It sounds like you have a factory installed 7-way on your 2011 BMW 535i which means that to wire in the P3 # 90195 you would only need to power the controller with the power and ground to your vehicle battery, tap into the brake light switch and then run the output circuit from the controller to the 7-way. And when carrying bikes you are limited to 2 bikes maximum because the hitch is not rated for any more than 2. I think they call that the Sportback. But on a 2011 BMW 535 XDrive GT, that specific model is not included in the Thule fit guides. Later GT models are but not a 2011. Actually, yes, the Thule OutWay platform style trunk mount bike rack, # TH65JV, is not the best option for a vehicle that has a fiberglass or otherwise soft bumper. It is meant more for vehicles that have a metal bumper like some trucks and SUVs.
